The chicken kebabs were ready to grill. The salad was made, and the patio table set. But when my husband fired up our outdoor gas grill — nothing happened.I go and push the button. I listen for the clicks. Nothing.“I replaced the propane tank,” he says, “so that’s not it.”“So, what is it?” I ask.He shrugs. We are out of ideas. We would not have survived long in the Stone Age.The Weber cart grill is less than two years old. We don’t use it that much, so how could it be broken? A look under the hood offers a clue. Then he get...‘It’s just completely gone’: Harrowing Maui fire escape for Bay Area vacationer

All this wind hit,” Hovis, 32, a San Francisco technology startup company manager, said Thursday in a telephone interview with the Bay Area News Group as he boarded a plane back to the Bay Area. “But the hurricane was 600 miles south so we thought, no big deal.”On Monday, Hovis, vacationing with four others this week at a friend’s home on the island, said they secured the inflatable pool floats and other loose items and didn’t think much more about it. But by morning, electrical power and cellular service were out.“We just hunkered do...Latest news
