(BCN) -- The Bay Area Air Quality Management District asks Bay Area residents to refrain from burning wood in their fireplaces or woodstoves over the Christmas holiday to keep air quality from becoming unhealthy. The district said Sunday that gathering around a fireplace may be a Christmas tradition for many, but there are serious health impacts associated with wood burning. Salvation Army holds its Christmas meal program Without additional wood burning activity, air quality is expected to be in the moderate range throughout the Bay Area on Monday. However, wood burning during the Christmas holiday can significantly impact localized areas and neighborhoods. Wood burning can also significantly impact indoor air quality. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and wood burning is not illegal. However, wood burning is strongly discouraged at this time. (BCN) -- A 24-year-old man was arrested in Santa Rosa on Saturday night after a traffic stop revealed an unregistered firearm in his possession, police said.Around 10 p.m., officers pulled over a BMW sedan for a suspended registration in the area of Todd Road and Moorland Avenue, according to Santa Rosa police.A probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun in a red satchel bag.The gun did not have a serial number and was not registered as required by law, so the 24-year-old Santa Rosa resident was arrested on suspicion of possession of a loaded and unregistered firearm as well as carrying a loaded and concealed firearm while in a vehicle, police said.Copyright © 2023 Bay City News, Inc.Hawks will be without De’Andre Hunter for at least 2 weeks because of right knee inflammation

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks will be without starting small forward De’Andre Hunter for at least two weeks as he deals with inflammation in his right knee, the team said Monday.Hunter, who has missed the last two games, will have a nonsurgical procedure on Tuesday. The team said Hunter, who on Saturday had an MRI that showed the inflammation, will be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks.Hunter is fourth on the team with his average of 14.9 points per game. One young Peabody resident is going above and beyond this year to help make the holiday season merry and bright, assembling a sprawling display full of inflatable decorations. The display includes more than 100 inflatables and showcases a range of characters spanning from classics like Santa and the Grinch to others like Homer Simpson and SpongeBob.“I love this time of year,” said display creator Noah Roan. “It’s my favorite.”Roan is a 21-year-old college student.
