Lunds and Byerlys July 4 weekend strike averted; tentative agreement reached over wages, health care Lunds and Byerlys grocery store workers have called off a planned holiday weekend strike after reaching a tentative agreement with corporate leaders to raise wages and preserve worker oversight on health care.The agreement to avert the strike was reached late Monday, June 26, after nearly six months of contract negotiations between the company and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 663, the union representing the store’s workers. Union members are scheduled to vote on Saturday, July 1, on whether to ratify the new proposed contract.“The bargaining committee believes that this tentative agreement respects, protects, and pays our members fairly,” UFCW Local 663 President Rena Wong said in a statement.Under the new agreement, Lunds and Byerlys will no longer require employees to immediately transition to a corporate-controlled health care plan, as the company had previously intended. With New York experiencing historic lows in new infection rates, NEWS10 spoke with an area provider on how they are getting the word out and getting folks tested. Teen dies in rural Missouri highway crash Tuesday morning MADISON COUNTY, Mo. - A teenager died, and another person was hurt in a rural Missouri highway crash Tuesday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. MSHP reports that Arie Van Zee, 19, of Farmington, Missouri, died in the crash. Next of kin has been notified. A 23-year-old man driving in another car suffered moderate injuries. Expired tags ‘nightmare’: Woman gets car back as neighbor’s truck gets towed away The crash happened around 6 a.m. Tuesday on Missouri Route 72, just east of Fredericktown. Investigators say Van Zee was heading eastbound when he crossed the center line and struck another car in the opposite lane. MSHP Troop C, which covers many counties around the St. Louis region, is investigating the crash. Troop C reports 31 fatalities from crashes in 2023.

CHP officer taken to hospital following crash on 15 Freeway in Lake Elsinore A California Highway Patrol officer was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a crash on the 15 Freeway in Lake Elsinore.The crash happened around 1:55 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway, just south of Nichols Road.The officer, who was riding a CHP motorcycle, crashed at some point and suffered undisclosed injuries, officials said.The officer's condition is unclear, but authorities confirmed the injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital.The cause of the crash remains under investigation.Check back for details on this developing story.
