Second man charged in southeast Austin murder

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A second man was arrested and charged in connection with a November southeast Austin homicide investigation, according to Travis County court documents.Records showed 22-year-old Paul Andrew Palacios was booked into the Travis County jail Monday and held on a $600,000 bond.KXAN reached out to Palacios’ attorney. Jaimes died from his injuries after the incident while at a south Austin hospital, according to police.Documents said an autopsy after his death found Jaimes had two stab wounds in his back and a gunshot wound to his hand. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A new electricity supply chain map hopes to aid state emergency officials in preparing for or responding to weather emergencies and disasters.The Public Utility Commission of Texas shared Monday information on the Texas Electricity Supply Chain Map, created in April 2022. The map is used by the PUCT, the Railroad Commission and Texas emergency responders "to respond to issues in real-time through direct communication and movement of resources necessary for maintenance or repair of electric generation and transmission infrastructure," officials said in the Monday release.The map outlines facilities across the state that have been deemed critical infrastructure and are part of the state's electricity supply chain, such as electric generation plans, natural gas facilities and others. After more than a century in business, St. Paul leather goods retailer J.W. Hulme has closed its doors.The company, which was founded in St. Paul in 1905, operated a manufacturing facility on West Seventh Street for decades and sold its products online until it eventually opened a Grand Avenue storefront in 2019. The retailer announced at the end of September that it was closing and a couple of weeks later announced an online liquidation sale.“It is a difficult day for us as we get ready to close our doors,” the store wrote in a Facebook post dated Nov. 7. “Today is the last day to shop our liquidation sale before we close for good.”Named after John Willis Hulme, the company got its start specializing in canvas awnings and tents, said Chuck Bidwell, a minority owner of J.W. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)---The Office of Cannabis Management looked into 71 shops suspected of selling illicit marijuana during the month of November. An estimated value of over $7 million dollars of product was seized, bringing the total value of seized illicit cannabis to $54 million dollars since June."We continue to be out every week working throughout the state and conducting enforcement actions against the unlicensed illegal shops," said Dan Haughney, Director of Enforcement of Cannabis Management. ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man will spend the remainder of his life in prison for a 2021 murder in the Greater Ville neighborhood.A jury convicted Tyrone Williams of first-degree murder and armed criminal action on Nov. 2. Williams appeared in St. Louis Circuit Court on Wednesday for sentencing.Prosecutors said Williams, 36, shot and killed Stephen Byes, 37, on Sept. 8, 2021, following an argument. At trial, Williams claimed he killed Byes in self-defense.Williams and Byes had a child with the same woman. Byes and the woman lived together, across the street from Williams.The two men got into a fist fight on the day of the murder. A suspect was found dead after police responded to reports of a shooting on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas with "multiple victims" on Wednesday. Disturbing security camera footage shows a man sucker-punch another man who was pushing his infant grandchild in a stroller in Calabasas on Tuesday. The victim called the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department around 5:42 p.m. to report the incident, which happened in the 4000 block of Lost Spring Road, a spokesperson confirmed.
