In 2016, Flaviu Georgescu was found guilty and sentenced of attempting to traffic weapons to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, an insurgent group on the U.S. terror list. But when he was arrested by Drug Enforcement Administration agents, he told the officials he was working for the CIA. This week on Intercepted, Trevor Aaronson, contributing writer with The Intercept, joins host Murtaza Hussain to discuss Georgescu’s case. In the second season of Aaronson’s podcast, “Alphabet Boys,” Aaronson tells the story of the DEA operation against Georgescu and how he was targeted by a paid DEA informant. Georgescu, however, had reported the attempted arms trafficking to the CIA and believed he was collecting intelligence for the agency. Aaronson and Hussain discuss their reporting on the case and how the U.S. government may be manufacturing the very crimes they claim to stop. The second season of “Alphabet Boys” is out now.Transcript coming soon. The post CI...40 guns seized, drugs confiscated in major DC gang bust

But is the team vulnerable this time?

Even without a few key players, the United States heads into the Women’s World Cup with a formidable group of wily veterans and eager newcomers. The question is, will it be enough for the team to lift international soccer’s most prestigious trophy again? The United States has won the last two World Cups and the goal is to three-peat. But American dominance in women’s soccer isn’t assured anymore. Teams like England and France have caught up, Germany and Sweden remain strong, and then there’s that rival to the north, Canada, which won gold at the Tokyo Olympics. The growth of women’s soccer globally means greater parity. And that means the United States has had to adapt. “There’s so many leagues around the world that are paying players more, that are playing more often throughout the season, and that are treating players in a professional way that we’ve been fighting for a long time, so I think that that has a lot to do with it,” star forward Alex M...Las 5 cosas que debes saber este 28 de junio: Putin lucha por reafirmar su control

New York (CNN) — Typically, Pepsi is best with a hot dog… not on a hot dog. But maybe that’s changing. The beverage brand is making its first-ever condiment — called “Pepsi Colachup” — that is actually infused with Pepsi. The special sauce is being launched in celebration of July 4, when baseball and hot dogs are aplenty, and is enforcing the company’s belief that hot dogs are best paired with its soda.Pepsi’s Colachup might sound foul (ball) at first, but it actually has culinary credibility. It was developed with the Culinary Institute of America, a prestigious cooking school, to “craft a revolutionary new type of condiment enhanced with the rich caramel notes and citrusy pop of Pepsi-Cola,” according to Jenny Danzi, a senior director at Pepsi.Beginning with a Pepsi reduction, the sauce is infused with a variety of ingredients such as smoked tomatoes; a blend of spices including cinnamon, thyme, oregano and paprika; plus onions and ketchup. That results in a “sweet, citrusy taste” ...Stolen vehicle involved in carjacking spotted by Miami-Dade Police; juvenile, adult apprehended after crash
