From Stormy to Sizzling

Published Mon, 25 Nov 2024 01:15:35 GMT

From Stormy to Sizzling The pattern remains unsettled today with scattered storms possible heading into the afternoon. A few of the downpours could produce heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. However, the pattern will go from stormy to sizzling as drier filters into South Florida. High temperatures are expected to range into the low 90’s and feeling more like the triple digits (between 100-105 degrees) through Father’s Day weekend. Although the air will be drier overall, our primary wind flow will remain out of the South-Southwest to draw up the heat from the tropics. This will maintain a Summer-like pattern through early next week and a good reminder to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in the shade, and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles. Have a wonderful day South Florida and make it a safe one! Vivian GonzalezMeteorologist, AMS Certified WSVN Channel 7

Paul McCartney says ‘final’ Beatles song coming thanks to artificial intelligence

Paul McCartney says ‘final’ Beatles song coming thanks to artificial intelligence (CNN) — When it comes to artificial intelligence, Sir Paul McCartney doesn’t sound like he’s willing to just “Let It Be.”In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s “Today” program released Tuesday, the legendary musician and former Beatle was asked about AI and how it’s been used to make his voice sound younger – and to resurrect the voices of fellow band members John Lennon and George Harrison who died in 1980 and 2001, respectively. And he revealed there’s a “new” Beatles tune coming, thanks to the technology.“When we came to make what will be the last Beatles record – it was a demo that John had that we worked on and we just finished it up, it will be released this year – and we were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI,” McCartney said. “So then we were able to mix the record as you would normally do.”While McCartney’s not on the internet much, he said, he’s aware of AI being used to do things like have Lennon sing one of his songs – which he...

Trump will face judge in historic court appearance over charges he hoarded secret documents

Trump will face judge in historic court appearance over charges he hoarded secret documents By ERIC TUCKER and ALANNA DURKIN RICHER (Associated Press)MIAMI (AP) — Donald Trump is expected to become Tuesday the first former president to face a judge on federal charges as the city of Miami prepared for possible protests by crowds that officials said could number in the tens of thousands.Trump approached his history-making court date with characteristic bravado, insisting as he has through years of legal woes that he has done nothing wrong and was being persecuted for political purposes. But the gravity of the moment was unmistakable as he answers to 37 felony counts that accuse him of willfully retaining classified records that prosecutors say could have jeopardized national security if exposed, then trying to hide them from investigators who demanded them back. The case is laden with political implications for Trump, who currently holds the dominant spot in the early days of the 2024 Republican presidential primary. But it also poses profound legal consequences given t...

Column: Lake County officials have nothing to lose by making a stadium pitch for the Chicago Bears

Column: Lake County officials have nothing to lose by making a stadium pitch for the Chicago Bears As long as real bears are roaming Lake County, we might as well make a pitch for the gridiron Bears. Seems like other locales are trying to lure them, so perhaps county economic development officials have a new stadium package prepared for the team.Folks may have missed the black bear sightings last week first lumbering near Gurnee Mills, then in the backyard of an Antioch-area home. State wildlife officials didn’t seem too upset about a rare bear encounter. The ursine sightings must be the first such in the county, although we have had bison and cougar visitors in the past. Black bears were once common in the county until our forefathers disposed of them in the late 1870s in favor of farms and pioneer housing. With the glimpse of the beasts at least Lake County can claim there’s some real bears here, compared to those suburbs who want to be the eventual home of the Monsters of the Midway.Having a new Chicago Bears stadium in Lake County would piggyback on the team’s...

US consumer price growth slowed last month

US consumer price growth slowed last month By CHRISTOPHER RUGABER (AP Economics Writer)WASHINGTON (AP) — Consumer prices in the United States cooled last month, rising just 0.1% from April to May and extending the past year’s steady easing of inflation. At the same time, some measures of underlying price pressures remained high.Measured year over year, inflation slowed to just 4% in May — the lowest 12-month figure in over two years and well below April’s 4.9% annual rise. The pullback was driven by tumbling gas prices and smaller increases in grocery prices and other items. The drop-off in overall inflation isn’t likely to convince the Federal Reserve’s policymakers that they’re close to curbing the high inflation that has gripped the nation for two years. The Fed tends to focus more on “core” prices, which exclude volatile food and energy costs and generally provide a clearer view of inflation. And core prices remained high last month, rising 0.4% from April to May, the sixth straight month of increases at that level or high...

The acid, which can be used for cleaning or for maintaining a pool’s pH balance, was then poured on three slides, authorities said.Evidence was gathered and sent to the state crime lab for forensic analysis. No one has been charged, but authorities said the suspect or suspects may have also been injured.“We...
