SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A lawyer for the man who broke into former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco home and attacked her husband told a federal jury Wednesday that David DePape was motivated by his political beliefs, not because he wanted to interfere with her official duties as a member of Congress, making the charges against him invalid.David DePape, 43, is charged with attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assault on the immediate family member of a federal official in the Oct. 28, 2022, attack against Paul Pelosi.During her rebuttal, prosecutor Helen Gilbert said the defense had made a false distinction between Nancy Pelosi’s politics and official duties and that DePape didn’t differentiate between the two.DePape pleaded not guilty, but during testimony on Tuesday admitted to bludgeoning Paul Pelosi with a hammer while trying to carry out a plan to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage. BRUSSELS (AP) — Yannick Carrasco scored after just 62 seconds on Wednesday as an experimental Belgium team beat Serbia 1-0 in a friendly game. The match had been switched to the city of Leuven, with no fans allowed, after heavy rain made the field at Brussels’ King Baudouin stadium unplayable.Carrasco captained Belgium in the absence of striker Romelu Lukaku. The midfielder made the most of poor communication between Strahinja Pavlovic and Predrag Rajkovic to score in an empty net after he recovered the ball close to the box.Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco used the match to try out things ahead of next year’s European Championship in Germany. He gave their first starts to Zeno Debast, Ameen Al-Dakhil, Olivier Deman and Arthur Vermeeren.Belgium has already qualified for the tournament. After taking on Serbia, the Red Devils are now set to face Azerbaijan in their final qualifying game on Sunday at King Baudouin stadium. GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson remains confident he can turn his disappointing season around. After all, he has done it before.“At some point, it’s going to click,” Watson said. “It’s tough mentally just knowing it hasn’t happened yet, but at the end of the day, I can’t control or change anything that’s happened in the past. I’m just focused on this next one.”Watson dealt with injuries and inconsistency as a rookie last year before breaking out in mid-November, when he started a four-game stretch in which he scored eight touchdowns. That raised hopes the 2022 second-round pick from North Dakota State could emerge as a legitimate No. 1 receiver.Although the 24-year-old Watson still has plenty of time to live up to that billing, this season, thus far, has represented a major step backward. After missing Green Bay’s first three games with a hamstring injury, Watson had a 1-yard touchdown catch against Detroit in his first appearance of the season....RMR Group: Fiscal Q4 Earnings Snapshot

This Thursday, Trellis HIV and Community Care will be raising money to provide resources for Kingston’s unhoused population with the Integrated Care Hub by hosting a hip-hop concert. The event is called “The Two Things Missing Project” – the two things referring to housing and safe drug supply. The goal of the event is to raise $10,000 which will be used to create “winter survival kits” to help keep unhoused folks warm through the winter. One of the performers for Thursday night, Keaton, works with the Integrated Care Hub, and came up with the idea for the event with his fellow staff members. Kelli MacIsaac with the Integrated Care Hub discussed the inspiration behind the event;“This was inspired, basically, by the people that we serve at the Integrated Care Hub. We have the privilege of getting to know them personally instead of just, seeing them off to the sidelines that a lot of people do.
